At Industrial Sprockets & Gears, Inc., we have completed complete gear box overhauls for boxes as small as a quarter up to the size of a pickup truck that weigh up to 50,000 lbs. Typical materials we encounter in gear box repair projects are 9310 alloy steel or 10 Chromalloy 6, but our team can machine parts from a wide range of metal alloys, as needed. Our gear cutting equipment includes CNC driven vertical turning lathes, Gleason gear hobbing centers, and other cutting equipment capable of holding precision tolerances and meeting AGMA Class 15 quality standards. Gears are machined to the degree of precision required to meet the specified turbine speeds and ensure reliable operation of the given gear box. We produce a wide range of ground and unground gears for mining, bridge, dredging, crane, and locomotive applications, among others.
The tooling needed to repair or replace gears is produced in our advanced tool room by experienced machinists. Our engineering team designs premium quality tooling, based on the shape, precision, and production volume of the gear in question. In addition to machining the necessary gears, we can manufacture or purchase all of the shafts, bearings, seals, and other components needed to reassemble the gear box. The complete gear box is thoroughly inspected and tested in our facility using a high speed run test before it is released for shipment back to the customer. We deliver repaired gear boxes worldwide and are capable of accommodating rush orders in emergencies.
